On July 24, 2024, the Doctoral Programs in Biotechnology at the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada organized a laboratory visit aimed at familiarizing students with research support facilities. This visit included a tour of the Integrated Laboratory for Research and Testing (LPPT) and the Agrotropica Learning Center (AGLC) at the Faculty of Agriculture, UGM.

During the visit, students were introduced to the state-of-the-art equipment and resources available at these facilities, which are essential for conducting advanced dissertation research. The tour provided a comprehensive overview of the lab capabilities, including the latest technologies in biotechnology and modern agricultural research, and demonstrated how these resources could enhance their research projects.

Dr. Tri Rini Nuringtyas, S.Si., M.Sc., Head of the Doctoral Program in Biotechnology, emphasized the importance of utilizing these facilities to maximize research output and quality. She encouraged students to take full advantage of the available resources and highlighted the support provided by the university in ensuring access to cutting-edge technology and expertise.

The LPPT offers a wide range of services, including advanced analytical tools, product development support, and comprehensive testing capabilities. Students learned about various instruments such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), mass spectrometry, and next-generation sequencing (NGS), which are crucial for detailed biotechnological research. The AGLC at the Faculty of Agriculture provides resources specifically tailored to modern agricultural research, including molecular analysis tools and bioinformatics support.

This initiative reflects the Graduate School of UGM’s commitment to supporting doctoral students in their research endeavors. By acquainting students with these high-tech facilities, the program aims to boost their confidence and capability in conducting innovative and impactful research. The exposure to cutting-edge technology and expert guidance is intended to empower students to produce high-quality dissertations and contribute significantly to their respective fields.

In conclusion, the laboratory visit on July 24 was a vital step in enhancing the research capabilities of doctoral students in the Biotechnology program. By providing access to advanced facilities and fostering an environment of support and innovation, the Graduate School of UGM continues to demonstrate its dedication to academic excellence and student success. This initiative not only aids in the immediate research needs of the students but also prepares them for future scientific challenges and opportunities.
