On August 14, 2024, the General Lecture by the Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Japan, took place in the Biotechnology Lecture Room on the 3rd floor of the PAU Building. This event is part of a broader initiative to enhance knowledge sharing among students and researchers.
The lecture featured two distinguished speakers from NAIST. The first speaker, Prof. Hisaji Maki, provided a general introduction to the Nara Institute of Science and Technology. Following Prof. Maki’s introduction, Prof. Yasumasa Bessho presented his research on “Valproic acid induces axial skeleton anomaly via perturbation of the somite segmentation clock.” This topic is particularly relevant as it explores the implications of chemical exposure on developmental biology, a critical area of study that can lead to better understanding and prevention of congenital anomalies.
