The Doctoral Program in Biotechnology, Graduate School, Universitas Gadjah Mada, successfully held Biotech Camp 2025, an annual internal event designed to foster research progress, strengthen academic community, and support doctoral candidates in their journey toward completion, on July 3, 2025.
In this year’s camp, all active Ph.D. students in Biotechnology were required to present their research progress in front of their peers and the program’s quality assurance team. The event was opened with a speech and remarks by the Head of the Doctoral Program, emphasizing the importance of continuous research monitoring and constructive feedback as key components for successful doctoral training.
The quality assurance team consists of faculty members representing the four main research interests within the program: Medical Biotechnology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology. This team, led directly by the Head of the Program, plays a crucial role in evaluating and providing objective input on each student’s progress. Their feedback is formally communicated to each student’s supervisory (promoter) team to ensure coordinated academic guidance.

A total of 51 doctoral students presented their research progress, each allotted approximately 15 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for discussion and questions with the quality assurance team and audience.
This activity serves not only as a formal monitoring mechanism to objectively assess each student’s development but also as a solution-oriented forum to address challenges faced during doctoral research. Through this event, the program hopes to motivate students to maintain their research momentum, encourage interaction and exchange of experiences among peers, and inspire innovative strategies to overcome research obstacles.
Biotech Camp 2025 underscores the commitment of the Doctoral Program in Biotechnology at Universitas Gadjah Mada to fostering a collaborative, supportive, and high-quality research environment that aligns with global academic standards.
