The Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Biotechnology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), conducted an Internal Quality Audit (Audit Mutu Internal/AMI) on Wednesday, 23 September 2026. The audit took place from 09:00 to 13:00 WIB at the Oval Room, 2nd Floor, Biotechnology Study Program, PAU Building UGM.

This audit is part of UGM’s continuous commitment to ensuring and improving the quality of education, research, and academic services within the Biotechnology graduate programs. The AMI serves as a comprehensive evaluation to assess the alignment of program implementation with the university’s established quality standards. read more

Ismail’s closed doctoral examination was held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the Conference Room C, 5th Floor, Graduate School UGM. During the examination, he presented his dissertation entitled:
“Exploration of the Potential of Streptomyces spp. Metabolites in Inhibiting Candida albicans Biofilm through a Multi-Omics Approach.” read more

A doctoral (PhD) student of the Biotechnology Study Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Ismail, has achieved an international milestone by being appointed as a reviewer for a reputable international journal published by Elsevier, Computational Biology and Chemistry.

This appointment took place during the period of May to June 2026 and reflects recognition of Ismail’s academic competence and expertise in biotechnology, particularly in the application of computational approaches in the life sciences. Ika Rahmawati Sutejo, a doctoral student of the Biotechnology Study Program, Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), received the Best Presenter award at “The 5th PIC UMP & 16th ISCC Annual Meeting in Collaboration with APTFMA & Soapbox Science,” held on September 6–7, 2025, at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto.

During the scientific forum, Ika presented her research entitled “Development of Agarose-Based 3D Breast Cancer Cell Culture and Comparative Cytotoxicity Analysis with 2D Models.” Her presentation was delivered online in Room 4 and was selected for the Best Presenter award. read more

The Head of the Study Program of Doctoral in Biotechnology, Graduate School UGM, Dr. Tri Rini Nuringtyas (Mrs. Nuning) and the Head of the Study Program of Master in Biotechnology, Dr. Dini Wahyu Kartika Sari (Mrs. Dini) went on an official trip to the UK in March 2024 to fulfill an invitation from the University of Dundee (UoD). This invitation is intended to strengthen academic and research collaboration between UGM and UoD, as well as following up on the signing of the UGM-UoD MoU regarding the Double Degree PS Masters Program in Biotechnology with the UoD School of Life Sciences (SLS). A series of agendas were carried out during the week-long visit to UoD, including discussions with several leaders of the Master of Science (MSc) and Master by Research (MBR) Study Programs, as well as the Dean of SLS. The agenda for this meeting was to discuss the technical implementation of the double degree program as well as opportunities for UGM alumni to continue their education at the Doctoral level at SLS UoD with the LPDP scholarship scheme. SLS UoD, which is currently a leading institution in the field of life sciences in the UK, is open to accepting students from the UGM Biotechnology Study Program to undertake internships, establish research collaborations, joint supervision, and guest lectures. read more
